Friday Freckles

I wasn't going to post any updates until next week, I know.

But the freckles are new this summer, and I love them.

I just wanted to share.

Wednesday Staycation Check-In

I love this picture and I hate this picture. Taken on the trolley ride to last week's farmers' market, he was so proud to be sitting by himself, so grown up. I try to resign myself to the fact that the baby is all but gone out of my baby. I'm not doing it very well.

We're still keeping busy. I'm still huge and growing more and more torpedo-shaped every day. I should be back to regular posting next week!

The Bigger The Figure

Just a check in from our little staycation. We don't have any full-length mirrors at our house, which is probably a good thing, because when I saw this in a bathroom the other day, I almost laughed out loud.

WBH tells me every day how much he likes my belly. Seeing this, I don't blame him. It's hilarious. For the rest of the day, I found myself humming and singing this song:

I've got a woman as big as a house yes sir
She's as big as a two family house with a porch and a fence
You won't believe what you see when you look at her
She's enormous collosal tremendous gigantic immense
Why try to deny it
She's just what I like
If she goes on a diet
I'll go on strike
The bigger the figure the better I like her
The better I like her the better I feed her
The better I feed her the bigger the figure
The bigger the figure the more I can love

I Made it Monday: Hamburger Cupcakes

When you craft late at night (and with young children, is there any other time to do it?), sometimes you really hate the way the results look before you go to bed, and find yourself really liking them again in the morning. This was definitely the case for these hamburger cupcakes. I made them for WBH's belated birthday barbecue this weekend, but they'd work for almost any summer event. It's a cupcake-brownie sandwich, and WikiHow has a better tutorial than I could come up with. The combination of textures is really yummy. Let me know if you give them a try!
Edit: A few things I did differently than WikiHow: I added a dollop of frosting underneath the brownie to hold it in place, and added the fancy toothpicks- I think it makes them easier to try to eat. If you search online, there are a lot of different variations on this, including sugar cookie fries on the side, adding real sesame seeds on top, etc. Once you get the components prepped, the assembly goes pretty fast.

Sunday Inspiration

"Every noble impulse, every unselfish expression of love; every brave suffering for the right; every surrender of self to something higher than self; every loyalty to an ideal; every unselfish devotion to principle; every helpfulness to humanity; every act of self-control; every fine courage of the soul, undefeated by pretense or policy, but by being, doing, and living of good for the very good’s sake—that is spirituality."

David O. McKay
