She Made It Monday: Nicaraguan Orphan Dolls

My mother made these sweet babies for Craft Hope's project #2, dolls for Casa Bernabe Orphanage. My sister and I helped a little with cutting and tracing, but mostly this is all my mother. All 41 of these little babies. After she did that, she made one for each of her nursery kiddos at church. Stinky, as he helped us pack them up to send off, wanted to know each of their names. So we made them up as best we could. "Dora... Diego... Maria... Pedro..." You can see all of the rag dolls made for this project at this blog entry . It's awesome to see the living room full of dolls, ready to go.

Craft Hope is an amazing site. I'm knitting up some baby booties for project #3, which will be sent over to India. As crafters, sometimes we end up with more of whatever it is we make than we need or want to have around. If you've got some crafting energy, and are looking for a little karma, I'd suggest checking them out. Currently, they're looking for blankets, pillowcases, hankercheifs, beanies, and booties for the children in India. The deadline is July 25th.

Your mom is amazing. And those dolls are SO cute. I was looking for projects on the Humanitarian Aid website that my kids and I could work on this summer, and, sadly, the dolls they have are not so. Almost scary. We'll definitely check out your link--thanks for including it.

Okay, just a disclaimer: even though I am scared by these dolls, that doesn't mean I don't have a testimony of the gospel, okay? Okay.
